The nearest town to Kravice Waterfall is Ljubuški. Kravice Waterfall is only 10 km from Ljubuški. 

Mostar is the nearest major city to Kravice Waterfalls. Kravice Waterfalls are 45 km from Mostar. Therefore, Kravice Waterfalls are often referred to as ‘the waterfall near Mostar’. Visiting Kravice Waterfalls from Mostar is among the most popular day trips from Mostar

In addition, Kravice Waterfalls are also close to the famous Catholic pilgrimage site of Medjugorje. Kravice Falls is 20 km from Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. So, many pilgrims who visit Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina visit Kravice Waterfalls too.

1. How to get to Kravice Waterfalls from Mostar

Visiting Kravice Waterfalls from Mostar by public transport is not the easiest way. There is no direct public bus from Mostar to Kravice Waterfalls. Therefore, visitors usually rent a car in Mostar, hire a taxi, or join an organized day tour from Mostar.

If you are short on your time in Herzegovina, I suggest taking this Kravice Waterfalls tour from Mostar.

However, renting a car in Mostar will give you more freedom and flexibility to explore this gorgeous corner of the world.
If you are a nature, you will enjoy the scenery of the Neretva River, Trebižet River, Buna River, etc. And if you are a history lover, you will be amazed by the history of the Old Town of Mostar, Počitelj, and Blagaj. These places will take you back in time and you will get mesmerized by their beauty. 
If you are hesitant about driving in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stay assured that the roads are in good condition and driving in Bosnia and Herzegovina is easy. So, I highly recommend renting a car in Mostar (you might be surprised how affordable rental cars in Mostar are!) and exploring the area on your own. Kravice Waterfalls are one hour drive from Mostar. 

2. How to get to Kravice Waterfalls from Sarajevo

Kravice Waterfalls are a 3-hour drive from Sarajevo.

3. How to get to Kravice Waterfalls from Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a top destination in Croatia and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. People who visit Dubrovnik often choose to visit neighboring Herzegovina as well. 

Kravice Waterfalls are a 2-hour and 30-minute drive from Dubrovnik.

Kravice Waterfalls are an hour and 40 min drive from Split. 

If you land in Croatia at Split International Airport, I hilt recommend hiring a car at the airport. A car will give you the flexibility to explore thoroughly Dalmatia and Herzegovina. 

The Adriatic coast between Split and Dubrovnik has some of the most beautiful bays and beaches in Croatia. My favorite beaches in Croatia are in Makarska Riviera. The beaches of Makarska Riviera will suit you in Croatia the best if you are a beach person. 

While indulging in southern Croatian beaches, go and visit neighboring Herzegovina. Visit Kravice Watrefalls, Počitelj, Blagaj, and Mostar in Herzegovina. Trust me, you will have one of the most beautiful trips in your lifetime.

5. How to get from Medjugorje to Kravice Waterfalls

Kraviec Waterfalls are only 13 mi (20 km), or a 25-min drive from Medjugorje.
There is no public transport from Medjugorje to Kravice Waterfalls. You can hire a taxi or rent a car and visit Kravice Waterfalls from Medjugorje. A one-way taxi ride costs around 10 €.

Things to do in Kravice Waterfalls, Bosnia and Herzegovina 

1. Swimm under the falls 

Unlike many other waterfalls in Europe, you can swim under Kravice Waterfalls in Bosnia. There is a huge lake at the base of Kravice waterfalls where you can swim and refresh yourself on hot summer days. The water is shallow, so you don’t need to worry about the safety. The swimming season in Kravice goes from May to September.

2. Enjoy the views of the waterfalls 

Everyone who saw Kravice Watraflls raves about the beauty of Kravice Waterfalls. Most likely you will too after visiting Kravice Waterfalls. Swimm under the falls, explore the paths down the river, and trails up the hill. See the beauty of Kravica Waterfalls from every corner.

3. Sunbath 

Sunbathing is always a good idea, especially if visiting Kravice Waterfalls in spring or autumn when the water temperatures might be suitable for swimming.

4. Rent a kayak or canoe

If you are into water sports or visiting Kravice Waterfalls in the season when the water is not swimmable, you might like to rent a kayak. Renting a kayak costs 8 €.

5. Hike the trails

There are several trails around the nature park. Each of them provides fabulous views of Kravice Waterfalls and leads to the fall. The trails are well-signposted and well-maintained. The last section of the trails that lead under Kravice Waterfalls can be slippery. So, be careful when approaching the waterfalls!

6. Dine in a restaurant or make a picnic for yourself 

Have a meal or a drink with the views of Kravice waterfall. Each restaurant has an outdoor terrace to enjoy the meals with the views of the falls. Pick one of the two restaurants and enjoy the sight.

7. Have a train ride

There’s a small train within the park that goes every few minutes. A train ride lasts only 5 minutes and it is a good option for people who have mobility issues and want to see Kravice Waterfalls. Besides that, if you are visiting Kravice Waterfalls with kids, your kids will love the ride!

8. Buy a souvenir

Most likely you will want to get a souvenir of this heavenly place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are a few souvenir stalls at Kravice Waterfalls. There you can find from fridge magnets to local products.

9. Explore the biking trails in the area

The Kravice Falls area is an outdoor paradise. 

There are several biking trails in the Kravice Waterfalls area. Some of the most popular biking trails are the Golden Trail, Shepherds Trail, Aromatic Trail, and Trebizat Heritage Cycling Trail. Scan the code which you can find at the entrance of Kravice Falls and start exploring the area by bike.

10. Mandića Jaz

Čeveljuša, another picturesque place in Herzegovina, is only 15 minutes away from Kravice Waterfalls. 

Čeveljuša is another waterfall on the Trebižet River. The cascading waterfall is only 15 m tall. But the waterfall and the area are a wonderful sight to see. Čeveljuša is a popular nature spot among locals for swimming and relaxing in summer. 

Mandića Jaz restaurant in Čeveljuša is among the most popular dining places in the area. It is open only in the summertime. The restaurant is known for its good food, fair prices, and lovely setting. If you are roadtripping Herzegovina, I highly recommend having lunch/dinner here!

11. Kupalište Bililo 

Bililo is a popular swimming spot on the Trebižet River. It is close and similar to above mentioned Mandića Jaz. Kupalište Bililo and Čeveljuša are only 10 miuntes away. The place also has a popular restaurant. Kupalište Billo restaurant is a bit larger than Mandića Jaz resturant. Kuplaište Bililo restuarnt. open only in summer. The restaurant tables are next to the river with the views of falls.

Tips for visiting Kravice Waterfalls in Bosnia 

  1. If you join a guided Kravice Waterfalls tour from Mostar, Split, and Dubrovnik, the entrance ticket will most likely not be included in the tour. Please check it with your tour!
  2. You can pay for the entrance with credit cards.
  3. Take good hiking shoes if hiking the trails around the falls (the surrounding trails can be slippery, especially when approaching the falls).
  4. Take a swimming suit for swimming under the falls. You don’t want to miss out on the experience of swimming in Kravice Falls!
  5. Take sunscreen in summer.
  6. Take a hat. Summer days in Herzegovina can be almost unbearably hot!
  7. Be prepared that the water might be colder than you expect (the water is refreshing in summer but most likely freezing in spring and autumn.
  8. Take cash with you. The bars/restaurants in Kravice take only cash money. 
  9. There are three restaurants, changing rooms, and toilets close to the falls.

The best time to visit Kravice Waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina 

Although Kravice Waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina are open for visitors year-round, summer is the most popular season for visiting Kravice Waterfalls for the warm weather and water temperatures suitable for swimming and water sports. But, Kravice Waterfalls in summer can get crowded. 

Spring is the best time to visit Kravice for the lots of water (high water level) and fewer crowds. Autumn, especially early autumn, is also a good time for visiting Kravice Waterfalls. The water temperatures in autumn might be colder for swimming, but visitors can enjoy less crowded Kravice Waterfalls in the beautiful colors of autumn.

Kravice Waterfalls are open from 7 am to 10 pm in summer and from 7 am to 5/6 pm in winter. 

March -April: 7 am – 6 pm 
May-September: 7 am – 10 pm
October – December: 7 am – 5 pm

Kravice Waterfalls parking 

There is a big parking lot close to the Kravice Waterfalls Nature Park entrance. It stands on a big plateau overlooking the waterfalls. The parking is spacious and suits well for parking vans, campers, and cars. The parking is open from 7 am until 10 pm.

The parking is also the place where tours drop off and pick up their visitors while visiting Kravice waterfalls. 

The price of parking is 2 KM (1€) per hour for cars and 4 KM (2 €) per hour for caravans and campers.
